Villa Celestial Split

During my recent vacation in Split, I was captivated by the charming blend of ancient history and modern life that the city offers. One of the highlights was my visit to Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that serves as the centerpiece of Split. This magnificent structure, built in the 4th century, was originally intended as a retirement residence for the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Walking through its storied halls and narrow alleys, I was transported back in time to an era of emperors and gladiators. Just a short distance away, I found the Parish Church of St. Lawrence (2 km) which boasts stunning architecture embodying the region's rich religious history and is a site worth visiting for its serene atmosphere.

Exploring further afield, I ventured to the impressive Diocletianus Aqueduct, located about 5 km from the city center. This ancient structure is a remarkable feat of engineering, providing insight into the sophisticated infrastructure of Roman Split. The pathway along the aqueduct offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes, making it an enjoyable trek for both history buffs and nature lovers. On my way back, I passed by the popular shopping center, City Centar One (4 km), where I indulged in some retail therapy and picked up a few local treasures to bring home. Just a few kilometers away, the beach at Camp Stobrec (2 km) beckoned with its stunning Adriatic views, providing a perfect spot for relaxation after my exploratory adventures.

No trip to Split would be complete without indulging in the local culinary delights, and I found the Lidl Makarska (5 km) to be an excellent place to pick up fresh produce and local specialties for a picnic. I also enjoyed visiting the charming village of Mravince (4 km), where I could unwind amidst scenic rural landscapes and traditional Dalmatian architecture. Not far from there, the small yet picturesque Crkva sv. Jurja na Vrsini (3 km) offers a serene escape with its beautiful views overlooking the nearby hills and countryside. Each of these landmarks, whether historic or modern, enriched my experience in Split and left me with unforgettable memories of this beautiful Croatian city.
