Impressions

Split, a stunning coastal city in Croatia, is renowned for its rich historical landmarks and vibrant atmosphere. While exploring the city's charming old town, I stumbled upon the majestic Cathedral of Saint Domnius, a UNESCO World Heritage site that stands as one of the best-preserved monuments of Roman architecture. Just a short stroll away, I admired the lively Riva waterfront promenade, where locals and visitors alike gather to enjoy the beautiful views of the Adriatic Sea. Nearby, the Croatian Maritime Museum offers fascinating insights into the region's seafaring history, while the Split City Museum showcases artifacts that tell the story of the city from its Roman origins to modern times. The Diocletian's Palace, a colossal structure that forms the heart of Split, is a must-visit, surrounded by a maze of narrow streets filled with shops, cafes, and bars.

In addition to these historical sites, I found the atmosphere at the Live Museum Split to be particularly engaging, where I could immerse myself in a theatrical experience of the city's past. The Ethnographic Museum provided an intriguing glimpse into Croatian culture and traditional life, showcasing a rich collection of costumes, tools, and crafts. A short walk from the center led me to the serene Church of Saint Martin, a gem of early medieval architecture that exudes a sense of tranquility. For those who wish to see religious architecture at its finest, the church and monastery of St. Frane, located slightly further at 2 km, offers a peaceful retreat adorned with beautiful frescoes. My time in Split was richly enhanced by these landmarks, each contributing to the vibrant tapestry of history and culture that defines this enchanting Dalmatian city.
