My journey began with a visit to the Croatian Maritime Museum, just half a kilometer from the city center. This fascinating museum showcases the rich maritime heritage of Croatia, featuring an extensive collection of artifacts, models, and exhibits detailing the country’s seafaring past. Through various exhibits, I learned about shipbuilding, navigation, and the significance of the Adriatic Sea in shaping Croatian identity.

Just a short walk away is Split Port, a bustling hub that serves as a gateway to various islands and coastal towns. The scenic waterfront area, known as Riva, provides an enchanting promenade lined with palm trees, ideal for leisurely strolls. Along the Riva, I found myself immersed in the local atmosphere, enjoying the lively cafés and watching the world go by. A quick dash to the nearby Temple of Jupiter revealed exquisite Roman architecture, a reminder of Split's historical significance as a Roman Empire stronghold. Not far from there, the church and monastery of St. Frane offered a tranquil escape, where I could appreciate its serene courtyard and the storied artifacts contained within.

For those with an appreciation for contemporary art, the Jaman Art Centre showcases the works of local artists, breathing vibrant life into the artistic scene of Split. Lastly, the quirky Froggyland, featuring an eclectic display of stuffed frogs in whimsical settings, adds a fun and unexpected twist to the cultural landscape. Taking in all these landmarks within a mere kilometer of each other made each day of my vacation feel like a captivating journey through time, culture, and creativity in the enchanting city of Split.
