Impressions

During my vacation in Split, I was captivated by the city’s rich history and vibrant culture, easily explored on foot due to the proximity of its renowned landmarks. Just a kilometer away from my accommodation, I discovered the stunning Cathedral of Saint Domnius, a remarkable structure that dates back to the 4th century. Close by was the impressive Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site that served as the emperor's retirement residence and is now bustling with shops, cafes, and galleries. A visit to the nearby Gregory of Nin statue, with its polished toe believed to bring good fortune, added a touch of whimsy to my day. I also strolled to the Split Port, observing the lively marina where ferries and boats bobbed gently in the Adriatic Sea.

In addition to these iconic sites, I explored the Croatian Maritime Museum, which showcased the country’s rich seafaring history just a short walk from the heart of the city. The Ethnographic Museum, also nearby, offered fascinating insights into traditional Croatian life and culture. For a more interactive experience, I enjoyed the Live Museum Split, which depicted various historical scenes through performances. I also ventured a bit further to the Mestrovic Gallery, where I admired the works of the renowned sculptor Ivan Meštrović. Lastly, the Archaeological Museum Split, a bit farther at three kilometers away, provided an enriching glimpse into the area's ancient past. My time in Split was not just a vacation; it was an immersion into a vibrant tapestry of history and culture, seamlessly intertwined with the stunning Mediterranean backdrop.
