Impressions

During my recent vacation in Split, I was captivated by the city's vibrant blend of history, culture, and breathtaking scenery. Just a stone's throw from my accommodation at Bacvice Beach, which is renowned for its soft sand and lively atmosphere, I found myself exploring the myriad of landmarks that make this coastal city so enchanting. Within a mere 1-kilometer radius, I could immerse myself in the rich cultural fabric of Split, from the ancient architecture to the lively promenade of Riva, which offered stunning views of the Adriatic Sea.

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Ethnographic Museum Split, located just a kilometer away from my base. This museum showcased the traditional costumes, crafts, and daily life of the region, providing an intriguing insight into Croatia’s diverse heritage. Nearby, the Split City Museum and the iconic Temple of Jupiter also caught my attention. As I wandered through these historical sites, I felt a deep connection to the past, particularly while standing in front of the impressive statue of Gregory of Nin, which has become a symbol of the city and a popular spot for visitors seeking a bit of good luck by rubbing its toe.

As I strolled through the charming streets of Old Split, I marveled at the architectural beauty that surrounded me, from the church and monastery of St. Frane to the bustling atmosphere of Live Museum Split, where performers brought history to life with their captivating reenactments. This cultural immersion was made even more enjoyable by the backdrop of stunning Mediterranean architecture and the warm sun that seemed to shine down on every part of the city. Each landmark I visited painted a vivid picture of Split's legacy, making my vacation not only a time of relaxation at the beach but also a profound journey through one of Croatia's most historic cities.
