During my vacation in Makarska, I was captivated by the breathtaking beauty of the Adriatic coastline and the charm of this historic town. The town is nestled between the impressive Biokovo Mountain range and the shimmering sea, offering stunning views and various outdoor activities. Just a short walk from my accommodation, I found Kacic Square, a vibrant plaza that serves as the heart of Makarska, featuring the iconic statue of the town's patron, Andrija Kačić Mojaš. This square is surrounded by cafes and shops, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the local ambiance.
Exploring further, I visited the St. Marc Cathedral, located approximately one kilometer from the square. This 18th-century baroque church is a true architectural gem, featuring intricate designs and a peaceful atmosphere that invites visitors for contemplation and admiration. Just around the corner, the City Museum offered fascinating insights into the rich history and culture of Makarska, showcasing artifacts that date back to Roman times. The picturesque Donja Luka beach, only half a kilometer away, was another highlight of my trip, where I soaked up the sun and enjoyed the crystal-clear waters.
The natural beauty surrounding Makarska truly enhances its allure. A short distance away, the majestic Biokovo Mountain beckoned adventurers to explore its hiking trails, promising panoramic views of the Dalmatian coastline. I also took time to stroll along the beautiful Makarska Harbour, where fishing boats and pleasure yachts bob in the gentle waves, and enjoyed a lovely meal at one of the waterfront restaurants. A visit to the Peninsula of St. Peter, just a kilometer away, revealed secluded paths and stunning vistas, while the serene Park Suma Osejava offered the perfect escape into nature. My vacation in Makarska was a delightful blend of cultural exploration and natural beauty, leaving me with unforgettable memories.
