Impressions

During my recent vacation in Split, Croatia, I was captivated by the perfect blend of rich history and vibrant modern life the city offers. Located along the Dalmatian coast, Split is known for its stunning waterfront and bustling atmosphere. One of the central hubs of the city is the Split Port, which is just a kilometer away from the heart of the town. This port is not only a gateway to nearby islands but also a lively area filled with cafes and shops where locals and tourists alike gather, enjoying the beautiful views of the Adriatic Sea.

Exploring the Old Split district was a highlight of my trip. Within a mere 300 meters, I discovered an array of remarkable landmarks steeped in history. Standing tall at the center is the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, one of the best-preserved Romanesque structures in the world. The nearby Ethnographic Museum, just a stone’s throw away, provided an immersive experience into the local culture and traditions, while the captivating statue of Gregory of Nin also drew my attention, symbolizing the rich cultural identity of the Croatian people. Wandering through these historic streets, I felt as though I had stepped back in time, with charming alleyways and ancient buildings surrounding me.

Further enriching my visit was the stunning architecture of the church and monastery of St. Frane, as well as the fascinating Croatian Maritime Museum, located just half a kilometer from my base. The Temple of Jupiter, an ancient Roman structure, added an intriguing layer to my exploration of Split's storied past. I also appreciated the serenity offered by the palm-lined promenade, which was the perfect place to unwind and reflect on my day. Overall, Split not only offered breathtaking sights and experiences, but also a unique journey through history, making my vacation an unforgettable escape.
