During my recent vacation in Split, I was captivated by the vibrant energy and rich history that the city has to offer. Nestled along Croatia's stunning Adriatic coast, Split is a perfect blend of ancient architecture and modern culture. One of the highlights of my visit was the Riva, a beautiful waterfront promenade just 0.5 km from the city center. Lined with cafes and restaurants, the Riva is the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely stroll while taking in the views of the harbor. Nearby, I also discovered Froggyland, a quirky museum showcasing preserved frogs in various human-like poses – a delightful and unique experience that added a fun twist to my exploration of the city.
A short walk from the Riva leads you to the majestic Diocletian's Palace, another must-see landmark situated just 0.5 km away. This Roman structure, built in the 4th century, stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is a testament to the city’s historical significance. I found myself wandering through its ancient walls, marveling at the intricate architectural details and the various shops, cafes, and art galleries nestled within. Just around the corner is the serene church and monastery of St. Frane, located only 0.3 km from the palace, which provided a peaceful escape from the bustling tourist spots. Additionally, the Live Museum Split, located 0.5 km away, offers an interactive experience with historical performances, making it another intriguing stop for visitors.
To delve deeper into the region's culture and history, I visited the Ethnographic Museum Split and the Split City Museum, both conveniently located within 0.5 km of my accommodations. These museums provided fascinating insights into the local traditions and the historical development of Split over the centuries. A short distance away, the Split Port, only 1 km from my hotel, was bustling with activity, serving as a gateway for ferries to nearby islands and offering a vibrant atmosphere. For sports enthusiasts, Stadion Poljud, situated 2 km from the city center, is home to the local football team and is known for its unique architecture. My vacation in Split was not only a feast for the eyes but also a true cultural journey, filled with unforgettable experiences at every turn.
