Impressions

During my vacation in Split, I was captivated not only by the stunning coastal scenery but also by the rich tapestry of history and culture that the city offers. One of the most enjoyable aspects of my stay was walking along the Riva, a beautiful promenade that overlooks the harbor and is flanked by lively cafes and palm trees. As I strolled along the waterfront, the aroma of fresh seafood wafted through the air, making it the perfect spot for an afternoon coffee or a meal while watching the boats come and go from Split Port, just a short 0.5 km away. The overall ambiance, enlivened by street performers and locals, set the tone for my exploration of the city.

Immersing myself in history, I ventured into the heart of Old Split, a mere 0.3 km from my accommodations. This area is a maze of narrow alleyways filled with charming shops and cafes, exuding a unique blend of ancient Roman architecture and vibrant contemporary life. Among the highlights of my visit was the renowned Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site that dates back to the 4th century. Just steps away, the Cathedral of Saint Domnius and the Temple of Jupiter stood testament to the city's rich ecclesiastical heritage. I also visited the Ethnographic Museum Split, located only 0.5 km away, which offered a fascinating glimpse into the region’s cultural history through its extensive collection of traditional artifacts.

On my last day, I took the time to admire additional landmarks that defined Split's cultural landscape. I was particularly enchanted by Froggyland, just a short 0.3 km from my starting point, where a quirky array of taxidermy frogs engaged in amusing tableaux delighted visitors of all ages. The nearby Church of Saint Martin and the Archaeological Museum Split, situated about 1 km from my lodgings, reminded me of the depth of history embedded in this vibrant city. Finishing my trip with a visit to the stunning Ethnographic Museum and a leisurely wander past the Temple of Jupiter, I left Split feeling enriched by a deeper understanding of its past, having experienced the harmonious blend of antiquity and modern Croatian life.
