Impressions

Split, Croatia, is a vibrant coastal city that artfully blends ancient history with a lively contemporary culture. One of the highlights of my vacation there was exploring the myriad landmarks within a short distance from each other, each offering a unique glimpse into the city's past and present. Just a kilometer away from my accommodation was **Froggyland**, an intriguing museum showcasing over 500 stuffed frogs in various human poses. This quirky attraction is a reflection of Split's whimsical charm, enticing visitors with its unique concept and artistic vision. A stroll through the Old Split area led me to the **Republic Square**, where the vibrant atmosphere and surrounding cafés create a perfect spot to relax and soak in the local life while admiring the architectural beauty that envelops the square.

As I continued my exploration of the city, the **Live Museum Split** was another delightful stop. Just a short walk from Republic Square, this interactive experience brought to life historical scenes from Split's rich heritage through the talents of live performers dressed in period costumes. It complemented my visit to **Old Split**, where cobblestone streets beckoned me with their stories. The charm of Old Split, with its ancient Diocletian's Palace, offered a breathtaking backdrop of history against which local shops and bustling markets thrived, creating a lively atmosphere that felt both timeless and vibrant. I was captivated by the perfect blend of history and modernity that permeated every corner of this enchanting city.

To round out my cultural excursion, I ventured to the **Croatian Maritime Museum**, located just two kilometers from the heart of Split. This museum beautifully encapsulated Croatia’s maritime heritage, showcasing artifacts that celebrated the country's long-standing relationship with the sea. Nearby, the **Ethnographic Museum Split**, also about a kilometer away, provided deep insights into the traditional folk costumes, practices, and lifestyle of the Croatian people. The entire area surrounding **Stadion Poljud**, known for its iconic football matches, symbolized the pride of the local community, reflecting the spirited atmosphere that defines Split. My time in this splendid city was a melding of the past, present, and the warm embrace of Croatian hospitality that left me longing to return.
