Impressions

During my recent vacation in Split, I was captivated by the city's rich history and stunning architecture. Just a stone's throw away from my accommodation, I found the iconic Gregory of Nin statue, a celebrated symbol of Croatian culture and resistance against the Latin Church. This 10-foot-tall bronze statue stands proudly at the entrance of the city's historic core, tantalizing visitors with its impressive craftsmanship and fascinating backstory. Nearby, the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, with its breathtaking Romanesque architecture and towering bell tower, beckoned me to explore its intricate interiors, while the Temple of Jupiter, a relic of the Roman Empire, offered a glimpse into Split's ancient past. The heart of the city, known as Old Split, is a maze of charming streets filled with cafés and local shops that perfectly capture the vibrant essence of Dalmatian life.

In addition to these captivating landmarks, Split features a plethora of cultural treasures within walking distance. The Archaeological Museum, just a kilometer away, houses an extensive collection of ancient artifacts, offering deeper insight into the region's storied history. A leisurely stroll of 0.5 kilometers led me to Froggyland, a unique exhibition that showcases over 500 taxidermied frogs in whimsical poses, providing a quirky diversion from the historical sites. Meanwhile, the serene Church and Monastery of St. Frane, located a short distance from the bustling harbor, invited reflection amidst its tranquil surroundings. The Split Port, bustling with ferries and boats, serves not only as a gateway to the surrounding islands but also as a picturesque spot to take in the stunning Adriatic coastline. Each of these sites contributed to an unforgettable experience, leaving me with cherished memories of this enchanting Croatian city.
