Impressions

During my recent vacation in Split, I had the pleasure of exploring a vibrant city steeped in history and culture, with myriad landmarks just a stone’s throw from my accommodations. One of my first stops was Froggyland, a whimsical museum located just 0.3 kilometers away. This unique attraction showcases an extensive collection of over 500 taxidermy frogs in various humorous poses, capturing the playful spirit of art and nature. Not too far from there, I roamed the iconic Republic Square, a bustling hub where locals and tourists gather, surrounded by charming cafes and shops. The square, only 0.3 kilometers from my base, buzzed with energy and made for a perfect spot to unwind with a cup of Croatian coffee.

Continuing my exploration, I discovered that Split is home to a remarkable array of museums and historical sites. The nearby Archaeological Museum, a mere kilometer away, impressed me with its impressive collection of artifacts that tell the story of Croatia’s rich history from ancient times to the present. My cultural journey continued at the Ethnographic Museum, located only 0.5 kilometers away, where I delved into the country's traditional customs and practices through fascinating exhibits. The Temple of Jupiter, also just 0.5 kilometers from my starting point, offered a glimpse into Roman architecture, with its stunning columns and serene atmosphere. Wandering through the narrow streets of Old Split, I enjoyed the old-world charm and vibrant lifestyle, all while encountering the captivating Gregory of Nin statue, which stands as a symbol of freedom and is just a short walk from the temple.

Finally, I ventured a bit further to discover the stunning Mestrovic Gallery, about 2 kilometers from the city center. This gallery, dedicated to master sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, showcased his remarkable works and provided insight into the cultural heritage of Croatia. I also took the time to appreciate the grandeur of Stadion Poljud, another 2 kilometers away, where the local football team plays amidst a backdrop of hard-to-miss architectural beauty. Each landmark I visited told a part of Split’s story, making my vacation an enriching experience filled with art, history, and breathtaking scenery.
