Impressions

During my delightful vacation in Split, I was captivated by the city's rich history and vibrant culture, all of which is beautifully encapsulated in its stunning landmarks scattered throughout the city. Just a short stroll from my lodgings, the Jaman Art Centre served as a creative hub that featured a variety of local and international exhibits, showcasing contemporary art that challenged and inspired. Close by, I explored the serene church and monastery of St. Frane, whose tranquil gardens provided a perfect respite from the bustling streets. The Archaeological Museum, only half a kilometer away, housed a treasure trove of artifacts that traced the history of the region, allowing me to immerse myself in Split's ancient past. Strolling through the nearby Republic Square, with its charming cafes and vibrant atmosphere, I felt the essence of local life before heading down to the picturesque Riva promenade, where the stunning Adriatic Sea provided a breathtaking backdrop to my leisurely day.

The cultural journey didn't stop there, as I continued to visit other remarkable sites within easy reach. The Split City Museum offered an intriguing glimpse into the city’s storied legacy, while the Ethnographic Museum provided fascinating insights into the customs and traditions of the Croatian people. A visit to Froggyland—a quirky museum featuring stunning taxidermy of frogs posed in human-like scenes—was an unexpected highlight and an unforgettable experience. For those craving a touch of sports, the Stadion Poljud, located just a brief distance away, showcased the passionate local football culture. Exploring these landmarks not only enriched my understanding of Split's historical and contemporary life, but also allowed me to appreciate the blend of art, spirituality, and community that defines this remarkable Mediterranean city.
