Impressions

During my vacation in Split, I was captivated by the city's rich history and stunning landmarks. Just a short walk from my accommodation, the Riva, Split’s vibrant waterfront promenade, bustled with life. Lined with charming cafes and restaurants, it served as the perfect spot to savor a local coffee while taking in the scenic view of the Adriatic Sea. Close to the Riva, I visited the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, an architectural marvel that dates back to the 4th century, where I marveled at its intricate design and climbed the bell tower for a breathtaking panorama of the city. Nearby, I encountered the poignant statue of Gregory of Nin, a significant figure in Croatian history, standing tall and proud, inviting both locals and tourists to rub his toe for good luck.

Exploring further, I took a leisurely stroll to the serene church and monastery of St. Frane, known for its tranquil atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. A visit to Froggyland, a quirky attraction featuring meticulously crafted frog sculptures in various scenarios, was both amusing and unique, offering a delightful break from historical exploration. For a deeper dive into Split's past, the Archaeological Museum, located just a bit further at 2 km, showcased captivating artifacts from centuries ago, making the visit truly enriching. Lastly, I made my way to the Meštrović Gallery, which celebrated the genius of Croatia's greatest sculptor, Ivan Meštrović, displayed in a stunning setting that beautifully complemented his works. The combination of historical significance, artistic brilliance, and vibrant local culture made my time in Split an unforgettable experience.
