Historic Plaza Varos Split (Adults Only)

During my vacation in Split, I was captivated by the city’s rich history and stunning architecture. One of the highlights was visiting the Church and Monastery of St. Frane, located just 0.5 km from the heart of the city. This serene structure, dating back to the 15th century, offers a glimpse into the spiritual life of the Franciscans and showcases beautiful Gothic architecture. Just a short stroll away, the vibrant Split Port awaits, bustling with life and offering breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea. The iconic Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is also conveniently located within 1 km of the monastery. This magnificent palace served as the retirement residence for the Roman Emperor Diocletian and now houses numerous cafes, shops, and pebbled streets filled with history.

In addition to the impressive historical landmarks, Split boasts a plethora of museums that provide insight into its cultural heritage. Within a kilometer from the palace, the Ethnographic Museum, Split City Museum, and the Archaeological Museum invite visitors to explore the local traditions and artifacts. Not far from these, the Gregory of Nin statue stands as a symbol of Croatian identity and independence, attracting tourists eager to rub its toe for good luck. For those seeking a unique experience, Froggyland offers a whimsical exhibition of taxidermy frogs in various playful scenarios, making it a quirky addition to the city’s attractions. With so much to see and do in this charming city, my vacation in Split was a beautiful blend of history, culture, and vibrant coastal life.
