Impressions

During my recent vacation in Split, I was immediately captivated by the city's vibrant energy and rich history. Split, the largest city in Croatia’s Dalmatia region, offers a stunning blend of ancient heritage and modern charm. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting Froggyland, a quirky museum dedicated to preserved frogs in human-like situations. Just a short 0.5 kilometer walk from my accommodation, it provided a uniquely amusing insight into the artistry and creativity of its creator, showcasing the unexpected side of this historic city.

Walking along the bustling Riva, the waterfront promenade, was another unforgettable experience. Lined with palm trees and buzzing with cafes, the Riva is an excellent spot to enjoy a leisurely coffee while taking in views of the Adriatic Sea. Nearby, I explored the Split City Museum, which offered a deeper understanding of the city's storied past through its engaging exhibits. Additionally, I visited the Temple of Jupiter, an ancient Roman structure that stands impressively at the heart of the city. Its intricate architecture and historical significance made it a must-see for anyone visiting Split.

Art lovers would not want to miss the Jaman Art Centre, just a few steps away from the main attractions. It features contemporary art exhibitions that reflect the local culture and international influences. Similarly, the Church and Monastery of St. Frane, a serene retreat nestled close to the bustling city center, invites visitors to appreciate its beautiful architecture and tranquil gardens. To top off my exploration, a visit to Split Port, also within a short distance, allowed me to observe the daily rhythm of life as locals and tourists alike traversed this vital hub of maritime activity, making it a perfect ending to a delightful day in this enchanting Croatian city.
