Impressions

During my recent vacation in Split, I was utterly captivated by the city's unique blend of vibrant history and stunning coastal scenery. First on my agenda was a visit to the iconic Riva, a bustling waterfront promenade that offers a perfect setting for leisurely strolls, delightful dining experiences, and people-watching. Just a short walk from Riva, I explored the Old Split, where ancient Roman architecture meets charming local shops. The atmosphere is alive with the chatter of locals and visitors alike, and I found myself enchanted by the narrow stone streets and cafes that invite you to sit back and soak in the surroundings.

As I delved deeper into Split's cultural tapestry, the Ethnographic Museum caught my attention, showcasing the rich traditions of Croatian life through engaging exhibits. Nearby, I discovered the Archaeological Museum, home to an impressive collection of artifacts that tell the story of the region's past, including its ancient Roman influences. A short distance away, I was also delighted to find the Split City Museum, which offered insights into the city's development over the centuries. The proximity of these landmarks made it easy to immerse myself in the local culture and history, making for a deeply enriching experience.

A highlight of my visit was the Mestrovic Gallery, a tribute to one of Croatia's most famous sculptors, Ivan Mestrovic. The gallery, set within a stunning villa surrounded by lush gardens, houses an incredible collection of artworks and provides a serene atmosphere to appreciate Mestrovic's talent. I also made time to see the famous statue of Gregory of Nin, a well-known symbol of Split, believed to bring good luck to those who touch its big toe. To cap off my tour of museums, I visited Froggyland, an entertaining and unique exhibit featuring over 500 stuffed frogs posed in humorous settings. With so many fascinating attractions all within a kilometer radius, my trip to Split was truly memorable, filled with rich experiences that showcased the city's artistic, historical, and cultural gems.
