Impressions

During my recent vacation in Split, I was captivated by the city's rich history and vibrant atmosphere. Nestled along the stunning Adriatic coast, Split is renowned for its ancient landmarks, many of which are remarkably close to each other. Just a short stroll from the famous Riva promenade, the Cathedral of Saint Domnius stands as a magnificent testament to Roman architecture, dating back to the 4th century. Nearby, the Split City Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the city's past, while the beautiful Ethnographic Museum presents traditional Croatian culture. As I wandered through the narrow streets of Old Split, I couldn't help but admire the impressive Gregory of Nin statue, a beloved symbol of the city, and meander through the enchanting local markets that line the alleys.

Exploring the artistic heart of Split was equally rewarding. The Jaman Art Centre, located just a stone's throw away, showcases contemporary works from Croatian artists, adding a modern flair to the historical surroundings. I also had the pleasure of visiting the Archaeological Museum Split, a bit farther at 2 km but well worth the journey, where artifacts dating back to the Roman period provide deeper insight into the city's ancient roots. The charm of the church and monastery of St. Frane, alongside the bustling Split Port, highlighted the beautiful blend of spirituality and everyday life in this coastal gem. Each landmark I visited contributed to the overall allure of Split, creating an unforgettable experience filled with history, art, and culture.
