Impressions

During my recent vacation in Split, I was captivated by the rich history and vibrant atmosphere that the city exudes. The crown jewel of Split is undoubtedly Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built in the 4th century AD, it serves not only as a stunning architectural masterpiece but also as the heart of the city. Exploring its ancient stone walls and atmospheric courtyards brought me back in time, immersing me in the lives of the Roman emperors. Just a stone's throw away lies the Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace, an impressive open courtyard adorned with magnificent columns and a beautiful backdrop of St. Domnius Cathedral, making it a perfect spot for enjoying a coffee or capturing stunning photos.

A short walk from the palace took me to the Jaman Art Centre, a contemporary gallery that showcases the works of local artists, adding a modern twist to the city's historical vibe. I also had the chance to visit the Ethnographic Museum Split, which provides a fascinating insight into the cultural heritage of the region through its extensive collection of artifacts and exhibits. Engaging with the displays gave me a deeper appreciation for the traditions and lifestyles of the locals throughout the ages. The entire area is a treasure trove of experiences, and every turn leads you to charming cafes and shops, seamlessly merging the old with the new.

One of the highlights of my exploration was the Church and Monastery of St. Frane, a serene spot that offers a moment of peace amidst the bustling city. Nearby, the Live Museum Split provides visitors with an interactive journey through history, allowing me to step into the past and appreciate the city’s evolution. Finally, the Split City Museum rounded out my trip with its intriguing exhibits that tell the story of the city from ancient times to the present day. Each landmark I visited was within walking distance, making my experience in Split not only unforgettable but also wonderfully convenient, allowing me to easily absorb all the beauty and culture that the city has to offer.
