During my recent vacation in Split, I was captivated by the rich history and vibrant culture that permeates the city. One of my first stops was the statue of Gregory of Nin, located just 0.5 km from my accommodation. This impressive monument, dedicated to the Croatian bishop who vehemently advocated for the use of the Croatian language in church services, stands as a symbol of national pride. The statue is not only a striking piece of art but also a popular spot for visitors who rub the toe of Gregory for good luck. The surrounding area, with its charming cobblestone streets, is perfect for a leisurely stroll as you soak in the local atmosphere.

As I ventured further into the city, I discovered the serene beauty of the Church and Monastery of St. Frane, also just 0.5 km from Gregory of Nin. This 13th-century Franciscan monastery, with its stunning Gothic architecture and tranquil gardens, offered a peaceful moment amidst the vibrant urban life. Close by, the lively Riva promenade beckoned with its picturesque views of the waterfront and bustling cafes, making it an ideal place for people-watching. I also explored the Old Split area, teeming with narrow alleys and ancient buildings, where every corner seemed to tell a story of the city’s past.

A short walk away, I delved into the intriguing exhibits at the Croatian Maritime Museum, which is about 1 km from my starting point. This museum celebrates Split’s rich maritime heritage and showcases artifacts that highlight the city’s connection to the sea. Not far from there, the Live Museum Split offered an interactive glimpse into the city's history, allowing me to experience moments from different eras through engaging re-enactments. As my day continued, I couldn't miss the awe-inspiring Cathedral of Saint Domnius, a mere 0.5 km away, where I marveled at its well-preserved Romanesque architecture. Each landmark I visited enriched my understanding of Split’s heritage, making my vacation an unforgettable journey through time.
