During my recent vacation in Makarska, I found myself immersed in a beautiful blend of natural wonders and cultural landmarks. Nestled along the stunning Dalmatian coast, Makarska is known for its picturesque beaches and vibrant atmosphere. Just a short walk from the shoreline, I enjoyed the tranquil Makarska Beach, where golden sands meet the sparkling Adriatic Sea. With the majestic Biokovo Mountain looming in the background just 0.5 km away, the scenery was nothing short of breathtaking, providing both adventure and relaxation.

Exploring the area, I visited the Vepric Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, located only 2 km from Makarska’s center. This serene site is a spiritual retreat, designed to replicate the original Lourdes in France, and offers visitors a peaceful place to reflect amidst lush greenery and tranquil pathways. Additionally, the Muzej riba i rakova (Museum of Fish and Crabs) was nearby, revealing the fascinating marine life that thrives in the region. Within just a kilometer of my accommodations, I also discovered the Malacological Museum, showcasing a diverse collection of shells and marine artifacts.

The vibrant Kacic Square, about 1 km from the coast, served as a perfect spot to experience local culture and cuisine. Additionally, the City Museum, located only half a kilometer away, provided insight into Makarska’s rich history. The iconic St. Marc Cathedral, just 2 km away, was another highlight, with its stunning architecture and historical significance. After days filled with exploration, I found myself retreating to the shopping center St. Nikola, conveniently located just half a kilometer from the beach, to unwind and find some local treasures. Overall, my vacation in Makarska was a perfect balance of relaxation, adventure, and cultural exploration, thanks to its myriad of nearby landmarks and natural beauty.
