Just a short stroll from my accommodation was Bilosevac Beach, only 500 meters away, where I enjoyed sunbathing on the warm pebbles and swimming in the crystal-clear waters. The beach atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, making it the perfect place to unwind and soak up the Mediterranean sun. A little further along, the famous Plaza Cvitačka, located just 1 kilometer away, offered a spacious sandy area for both relaxation and water activities, and it quickly became a favorite spot for both locals and tourists alike.

While exploring Makarska, I was eager to immerse myself in the town’s rich cultural scene. Just 2 kilometers from the town center lies the Muzej riba i rakova, or the Museum of Fish and Crustaceans, which showcases an impressive collection of marine life from the Adriatic Sea. The museum not only provided fascinating insights into the local aquatic ecosystem but also highlighted the importance of preserving these species. For those who appreciate awe-inspiring natural landscapes, the nearby Biokovo Mountain, merely 1 kilometer from Makarska, presents an irresistible invitation for hiking and outdoor adventure. With its dramatic cliffs and panoramic views of the coastline, Biokovo offers trails for all levels of hikers, making it a must-visit for those seeking an exhilarating experience.

As my vacation continued, I took excursions to several points of interest surrounding Makarska. One notable visit was to the Vepric Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, located just 3 kilometers away, where I was moved by the serene atmosphere and peaceful surroundings. The shrine, set against the backdrop of magnificent nature, provides a spiritual retreat that attracts visitors from all walks of life. Closer to the town, I discovered the Donja Luka beach area, situated approximately 1 kilometer away, perfect for enjoying a leisurely day by the sea. I also had the chance to visit the local observatory, which allowed a unique perspective of the night sky, revealing the beauty of twinkling stars over the Adriatic. Each landmark added a layer of richness to my experience in Makarska, enhancing my appreciation for both its cultural heritage and stunning natural surroundings.
