During my vacation in Makarska, I was captivated not only by its stunning beaches but also by its rich cultural heritage and the picturesque landscape that surrounds the town. One of the first stops on my exploration was the Malacological Museum, just 2 kilometers away. This unique museum, dedicated to the study of mollusks, showcases an impressive collection of shells from various regions of the world, blending natural history with artistic displays. It provided a fascinating insight into marine life and the ecological importance of mollusks, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and casual tourists alike.

Further into my adventures, I discovered the picturesque Biokovo Mountain, located only half a kilometer from the heart of Makarska. The mountain serves as a stunning backdrop to the town and offers a myriad of hiking trails with breathtaking views over the Adriatic Sea. Additionally, St. Mark's Church and St. Marc Cathedral, both within a kilometer, reveal the town’s historical depth, displaying remarkable architecture and contributing to the spiritual ambiance of Makarska. Kacic Square, a vibrant hub of local life, also lies nearby, where I enjoyed the lively atmosphere filled with cafes, shops, and trees offering shade under the Mediterranean sun.

Lastly, my sightseeing journey wouldn't have been complete without a visit to the serene Peninsula of St. Peter, just one kilometer away. This scenic area is perfect for a relaxing stroll beside the water, offering stunning views of the Sveti Petar Lighthouse that gracefully stands sentinel nearby. Not far from the peninsula is the Vepric Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, which, at 2 kilometers away, provides a peaceful retreat and spiritual solace for visitors. Each of these landmarks helped paint a vibrant picture of Makarska's charm, showcasing the blend of natural beauty, history, and culture this coastal gem has to offer.
