Impressions
During my recent vacation in Split, I had the delightful opportunity to explore its rich history and picturesque surroundings. One of the nearby landmarks that truly captivated me was the Castle Vitturi, located just 3 kilometers from the city. This medieval castle, steeped in history, offers stunning views of the Adriatic Sea and is an excellent example of Renaissance architecture. The castle's strategic position reflects its historical significance, as it once served as a lookout point against invaders. Walking through its ancient walls, I felt a deep connection to the past, further enriched by the scenic backdrop of the coastal landscape.
Another nearby gem was the Church of St. Kuzma and St. Damjan, situated just a kilometer from Split. This charming church, with its calming ambiance and beautiful frescoes, provided a serene retreat from the bustling tourist attractions. The church's intricate designs and historical importance made it a worthwhile stop, allowing me to appreciate the local culture and spirituality. Just a stone's throw away, I also visited the Fort at Glavica, which is only 2 kilometers from the city. This fortification offers a different perspective on the area's defense history, and from its vantage point, I was treated to panoramic views of Split and the surrounding coastline.
In addition to these historical landmarks, I took the opportunity to relish the natural beauty of the region. The nearby Marina Kastela, only 2 kilometers away, provided a picturesque setting for a leisurely stroll by the water, observing the boats bobbing gently in the marina. I also enjoyed the vibrant entertainment at the Veceri Dalmatinske pisme, a cultural event celebrating traditional Dalmatian music, held just 2 kilometers from the center. Moreover, the natural oasis of Vitturi Park, about 3 kilometers away, allowed for a peaceful escape into nature, while I also explored the nearby Church of St. Georg of Putalj and the captivating Kastilac Fort. Each of these nearby sites added depth to my experience in Split, creating a perfect blend of history, culture, and stunning landscapes.
