Impressions

During my vacation in Makarska, I was enchanted by the picturesque coastal beauty combined with a rich cultural heritage. Exploring the town, I first visited Kacic Square, just 0.5 km from my accommodation, known for its vibrant atmosphere and charming cafes. The square is dominated by the statue of Andrija Kačić Miošić, a local poet, and is a perfect spot for people-watching. After enjoying a leisurely coffee, I strolled down to Donja Luka, a lovely pebble beach, where I indulged in sunbathing and swimming in the crystal-clear Adriatic waters. Not far from there, the serene Park Šuma Osejava beckoned, offering lush greenery and scenic paths perfect for a walk amidst nature, while the nearby Biokovo Mountain provided a breathtaking backdrop for my explorations.

As I continued my journey through Makarska, I was captivated by the historical treasures that the town has to offer. The stunning St. Mark's Church, located just 1 km away, showcases beautiful Baroque architecture and offers a glimpse into the spiritual life of the community. Meanwhile, the City Museum, only 0.3 km from my location, presented fascinating insights into Makarska's history and cultural evolution. A highlight was visiting the iconic Sveti Petar Lighthouse, standing proudly at about 1 km away, where I soaked in panoramic views of the coastline. I also ventured to the Observatory, just 0.3 km from my base, which offered a unique perspective of the stars and the surrounding landscape. Finally, my exploration would not be complete without a visit to the St. Marc Cathedral, a stunning monument reflecting the area’s rich architectural heritage. Each landmark added a layer of appreciation for Makarska’s blend of natural beauty and historical depth.
