During my recent vacation in the beautiful coastal town of Makarska, I was captivated by its vibrant Adriatic charm and stunning natural landscapes. The town is not only known for its picturesque beaches but also boasts an array of cultural and historical landmarks nearby that enrich the experience for every traveler. Just a short walk from the town center, I discovered the Muzej riba i rakova, or the Museum of Fish and Crustaceans. This charming museum, located merely 0.5 kilometers from where I stayed, showcases the diverse marine life of the Adriatic Sea, featuring fascinating exhibits that highlight the region's rich fishing heritage.

Exploring the great outdoors, I ventured into Forrest Park Osejava and Park Šuma Osejava, both within half a kilometer to 1 kilometer away from the town center. These beautiful parks provided a serene escape, with walking trails winding through lush greenery and offering breathtaking views of the surrounding coastline. The walk through these parks proved to be a rejuvenating experience, dotted with viewpoints that overlook the sea, allowing me to immerse myself in the natural beauty of the area. The proximity to the Observatory, also just 0.5 kilometers from my base, added an element of wonder, where I imagined gazing at the stars amidst Makarska’s clear skies.

Another highlight of my trip was visiting the Sveti Petar Lighthouse, situated approximately 1 kilometer from the town. This historic lighthouse, perched on the Peninsula of St. Peter, is not only a navigational aid but also provides stunning panoramic views of the coastline and the nearby islands. A leisurely stroll along the picturesque paths led me to Mlinice, set 2 kilometers away. The tranquil ambiance of the area, with its historical mill and enchanting surroundings, was the perfect way to conclude my sightseeing. Overall, my time in Makarska was a delightful blend of relaxation and exploration, with each landmark enriching my understanding of this beautiful Croatian destination.
