Impressions

During my vacation in Split, I was captivated by the city's rich history and vibrant culture. One of the standout landmarks was the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, located just 0.3 kilometers from the heart of the city. This impressive structure, originally built as a mausoleum for the Roman Emperor Diocletian, boasts stunning Romanesque architecture and an ornate bell tower that offers panoramic views of Split. Adjacent to the cathedral is the Split City Museum, which provides a fascinating look into the city's evolution over the centuries, showcasing artifacts and exhibits that highlight Split's significance from Roman times through the modern era.

Exploring further, I discovered the Croatian Maritime Museum, located a mere 0.5 kilometers away. This museum is a hidden gem that celebrates Croatia's long-standing maritime heritage, featuring displays of historical seafaring equipment and ship models. Just a short walk from there, I came across the statue of Gregory of Nin, a significant cultural icon, which stands proudly at the entrance of the city’s historic core. The nearby Froggyland, a quirky museum exhibiting over 500 stuffed frogs in various playful scenarios, offered a lighthearted contrast to the more traditional sites I'd visited.

As I strolled along the Riva, a beautiful waterfront promenade just 0.3 kilometers from my accommodations, I took in the lively atmosphere filled with cafes and locals enjoying the pleasant Mediterranean climate. Along the promenade, I discovered other noteworthy sites like the church and monastery of St. Frane, renowned for its serene gardens. On my final day, I visited the Archaeological Museum Split, about 1 kilometer from the city center, where the impressive collection of artifacts further deepened my appreciation for Split’s complex history. Additionally, the Ethnographic Museum, just 0.3 kilometers away, enriched my understanding of local customs and traditions, making my stay in Split an unforgettable experience.
